CLEANSING

What is the Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush?

The Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush uses our patented sonic oscillatory technology, cleansing six times better than your hands alone. A Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush is your first step toward sonic skin transformation, and guarantees cleaner, smoother, younger-looking skin.

What is sonic skin cleansing?

The Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush, powered by our patented sonic technology, works with the skin's natural elasticity, oscillating at more than 300 movements per second to gently massage away impurities trapped within pores.

Why is sonic skin cleansing unique?

Sonic skin cleansing is a breakthrough in the way you cleanse your face and the first step in sonic skin transformation. Unlike traditional cleansing methods and other cleansing brushes on the market, which rotate or vibrate, Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brushes move back and forth with skin's natural elasticity to get rid of more dirt, oil and makeup—cleansing six times better than your hands alone. And when skin is free of impurities, it not only feels softer, it looks healthier and more radiant too.

What are the benefits of Clarisonic's patented sonic cleansing technology?

  • Cleanses skin six times better than your hands alone.
  • Removes impurities from skin and pores so creams, serums and moisturizers are absorbed better.
  • Gentle enough for twice daily use even on skin affected by conditions like rosacea and seborrheic dermatitis.*

*If you are under a doctor's care for any skin condition, please consult your physician before using a Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush.

What does sonic cleansing feel like?

The gentle micro-massage movement feels subtle but soothing as the brush is moved around the face. The brush head should never feel scratchy or irritating. If there is any discomfort, ensure both your face and the brush head are thoroughly damp and/or try using more cleanser. Do not apply excessive pressure when using, but rather, allow the weight of the brush to do the work for you.

*Consult your skincare professional before using a Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush if you have a skin condition.

Do Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brushes cause any damage to the skin’s elasticity?

No. Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brushes gently cleanse by working with the natural elasticity of your skin. The oscillation of the brush stays in the safe zone of the skin's natural elasticity curve, meaning it won’t damage skin.

Is the Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush safe to use on sensitive and very delicate skin?

Yes, Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brushes have been proven safe and gentle for most skin types. The sensitive and delicate brush heads are specially designed for more sensitive skin types. If you use another cleanser, we recommend testing it with the Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush on your forearm prior to using it on your face. Some cleansers, including those with acids, may irritate your skin when used with the Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush.*

*Consult your skin care professional. Do not use Clarisonic Cleansing Systems with mechanical exfoliants such as microbeads or shells.

If you are under a doctor’s care for any skin condition, or if you have or think you may have a skin condition, consult your physician. Do not use a Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush if you:

  • have heightened skin allergies
  • have an extreme sunburn
  • have open wounds or open lesions
  • are taking medication that can cause skin sensitivity*

Are Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brushes designed for use by men?

Yes. Many men experience a closer, smoother shave when using their Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush for a pre-shave cleanse. We also find many men appreciate the convenience of using it in the shower.

How soon will I see results when using a Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush?

All skin is different, and results vary from person to person. Many users experience an immediate result of radiant, smooth, and healthy-looking skin. In as little as 14 days, the Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush works to transform skin and can reduce the appearance of fine lines, minimize pores, and improve skin texture.

Will the Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush remove sunless tanner?

Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brushes, particularly the Body Brush Head that comes standard with the Clarisonic Smart Profile, are perfect for preparing the skin for the application of sunless tanner by gently removing dry patches that may lead to uneven application. However, Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brushes do not aggressively exfoliate and will not remove sunless tanner.

What are the differences between Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brushes and other skin care devices?

Many other skin care devices on the market use spinning, rotary technology or a vibration combined with an exfoliating cream. Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brushes gently oscillate back and forth with skin's natural elasticity, and are proven safe and gentle for twice daily use, while other products may scrub or abrade the surface of your skin.

How is the Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush different than a microdermabrasion product?

Microdermabrasion products abrade the skin and are not meant for daily use. Designed for twice-daily use, Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brushes use patented sonic oscillation technology that works with the skin's natural elasticity to clean gently, deeply and thoroughly.

How do I use my Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush?

Charge your Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush for 24 hours before your first use. Prior to using your Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush, remove eye makeup by hand. Wet your face and brush head with warm water and apply cleanser (either to your face or the brush head directly, whichever you prefer). Start the cleansing cycle by pressing the power button, and gently move the brush in circular movements across the face. We recommend that you use the brush for 20 seconds on the forehead, 20 seconds on the nose/chin and 10 seconds on each cheek. When you are finished, rinse the brush head and handle with warm water. Refer to your User Guide for additional information.

How often can I use my Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush?

Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brushes are gentle enough for twice-daily use. We recommend using your Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush as the cleansing step in your daily skin care routine, whenever you normally cleanse your face.

What type of cleanser should I use with my Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush?

Our specially-formulated cleansers are optimized for use with Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brushes, but feel free to use any non-abrasive cleanser you love.

Can I use my Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush in the shower or bathtub?

Yes. Your Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush is waterproof for use in the shower or bathtub. As with any electrical device, do not use the charging cradle or pLink® charger while bathing or where it can fall or be pulled into a tub or sink.

Can I use my Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush on my body?

For head-to-toe sonic cleansing, we suggest investing in the Clarisonic Smart Profile model which features a unique Body Mode and is compatible with our Body Brush Head. The Body Brush Head gently exfoliates, removing dead skin cells, to smooth the skin on your back, legs, arms and feet. Daily use leaves skin soft and healthy-looking with reduced appearance of dry patches.

I've heard some people experience blemishes or breakouts when first using a Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush. Why does this happen?

A very small percentage of people may experience some blemishes after using a Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush during the first week. This is because the Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush is deeply cleansing and flushing the impurities out of your skin, which sometimes results in a brief breakout. This process may seem similar to the "purging" process often experienced with professional facials, where impurities trapped deep in the skin are brought to the surface.

How do I clean my Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush?

Once a week, wash the brush head and the handle separately using warm water and mild anti-bacterial soap. The handle is sealed and fully waterproof. Never attempt to open the brush handle for any reason. To dry the brush after use, rub the brush head against a towel for 5–10 seconds while it is powered on, or simply replace the brush head cap and let it air dry between uses. Do not use abrasive cleaners or chemicals to clean any part of the handle or brush head. Do not put any part of the handle in a dishwasher. Unplug the charging cradle before you clean it. After unplugging the cradle, wipe it with a soft, damp cloth. Do not immerse the cradle in water.

How often should I charge my Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush?

When used at the normal speed, the Clarisonic Mia® and Clarisonic Mia 2® models have an average battery life of 24 uses. Clarisonic PLUS has a battery life of about 28 uses when used at the normal speed. All of our cleansing brushes feature low-battery warnings. See your User Guide for more information.

BRUSH HEADS

Does Clarisonic offer brush heads for different skin types?

For the most customized experience possible, Clarisonic has specifically developed brush heads for different skin types and skin concerns. Our Normal, Sensitive, and Delicate Brush Heads vary in bristle length, the longest length providing the plushest feel. This offers different levels of gentleness, while each is equally effective. We have a brush head that is designed for specific skin concerns; our Deep Pore Cleansing Brush Head. It works in a unique way to effectively cleanse skin with specific needs or concerns. Lastly, our Body Brush Head has the shortest bristle length and is larger in diameter, allowing for effective body cleansing with the Clarisonic Smart Profilemodel.

Which Clarisonic brush head is right for me?

We recommend starting with our Sensitive Brush Head, which is perfect for normal to sensitive skin and comes standard on all of our cleansing devices. From there, it is easy to gauge what type of cleanse you are looking for. If you have healthy skin and are looking for a more vigorous cleanse, we suggest the normal brush head. If you have extremely delicate skin and desire the most gentle cleanse, we recommend the delicate brush head. If you have condition specific concerns, such as large pores or acne, consider the Deep Pore Cleansing Brush Head.

What is so different about the Deep Pore Cleansing Brush Head?

The Deep Pore Cleansing Brush Head uses a unique gradation of bristle firmness and dual-action motion to cleanse deep within your pores and uneven areas of the face like around the nose where oil can build up.

Can I use the Deep Pore Cleansing brush head if I have sensitive skin?

Yes, the Deep Pore Cleansing Brush Head has been tested and is safe for use twice daily. Some people with sensitive skin however, prefer to partner the Deep Pore Cleansing Brush Head with a Sensitive or Delicate Brush Head. They use the Deep Pore Cleansing Brush Head every few days or once a week as their deep cleansing facial.

Can I interchange brush heads between different Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush models?

You can interchange facial brush heads, but the Body Brush Head is only compatible with the Clarisonic Smart Profile.

How do I remove the brush head from my Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush?

To remove the brush head, grip the brush head firmly, then push and twist it counter-clockwise (like a medicine cap). Then pull the head away from the handle. To attach the brush head, push down and twist the head clockwise until it snaps into place. Be sure you hear a light snap.
*You may find it easier to remove and attach your brush head with the brush head cap on, which acts as a tool to increase your grip.

How often should I replace the brush head on my Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush?

To maintain proper and effective cleansing, we recommend replacing your brush head every three months.

How is the Body Brush Head different from the facial brush heads Clarisonic offers?

The Body Brush Head is 1/2" larger in diameter than the facial brush heads. Also, unlike our facial brush heads, all the bristles on the Body Brush Head oscillate, meaning there are no stationary bristles that act like a splash guard.
